Spotlight On... Ian David Baker

...is a Kent based artist and photographer.

Ian David Baker is a Kent based artist and photographer.

Why did you move to Kent?
I couldn’t get into Sussex… Found Deal and surrounding area charming, and quiet after London, but then too quiet, but I am a serial mover.

Favourite places to photograph in Kent?
Dungeness.

From where do you draw your inspiration?
Originally canal boats in East London, and Amsterdam, now shapes can come from anywhere. Current paintings based on the marks on the ground left by the missing fairground in Folkestone.

Your favourite piece of art?
An installation called ‘The Beanery’ by Edward Keinholz. He is showing Hoerengraght at the National Gallery. And for paintings anything by William Scott.
